ABOUT
REBECCA HALFORD
ARTIST
BASED IN COLORADO
Rebecca Halford is a contemporary painter based in Boulder, Colorado. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico and, after a career leading community engagement and communications for renewable energy projects across the United States, returned to her lifelong passion for painting as a full-time studio artist.
Working in acrylic, Rebecca creates vibrant paintings inspired by the relationships that shape our lives: the connections between people, animals, nature, and memory. Her distinctive visual language combines expressive color, simplified forms, and a playful sense of composition to celebrate the beauty found in everyday moments.
Her work has been exhibited in Colorado, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, including exhibitions at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico, the Niza Knoll Gallery in Denver, the Summer Art Market at the Art Students League of Denver, and the juried ArTini auction presented by Arts Alliance Tulsa. Her paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States and internationally.
Rebecca continues to paint from her Boulder studio, creating work that invites viewers to pause, smile, remember, and discover beauty in the ordinary.
BIOGRAPHY
ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings explore the quiet moments that shape a life. Whether the subject is a woman, a landscape, flowers in bloom, or the companionship between a person and an animal, I am drawn to the connections that make ordinary experiences meaningful.
Working with bold color, simplified forms, and expressive composition, I paint less from observation than from memory and emotion. I want each piece to capture the feeling of a moment rather than its exact details. Color becomes a language of its own. It creates energy, warmth, humor, calm, or reflection, inviting viewers to experience the painting before they begin to interpret it.
Many of my paintings begin with moments from my own life, but they are never intended to remain only mine. A walk with a dog, a childhood memory, a quiet afternoon, or a familiar landscape becomes an invitation for others to recall their own stories. I hope my work sparks curiosity, recognition, and a sense of connection, reminding us that the moments we often overlook are the ones that stay with us the longest.
I believe art has the power to elevate the everyday. Through vibrant color and a playful visual language, I seek to create paintings that celebrate beauty, identity, companionship, and the richness of ordinary life. If someone walks away from my work smiling, remembering a place they love, or seeing themselves reflected in a painting, then I have accomplished what I set out to do.
